Synchron receives excellence award - Founder MD Shivprakash awarded the Udyog Rattan Award.

Synchron Research is an industry leader in the area of clinical research, has just enjoyed a double success. Not only was the company bestowed with the Excellence Award by the Institute of Economic Studies, New Delhi, but it’s Founder and Managing Director Dr. Shivprakash Rathnam was honored with the Udyog Rattan Award, joining the ranks of other leading Indian industrialists who have received this honor. This award was in recognition for his contribution for the development of Clinical Research Industry in India.

The awards were presented at a function in Delhi on 16th July 2008 in the presence of Mr. Balram Jhakar, Honorable Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Dr Bishma Narain Singh, former Governor of TN and Eastern states, and Mr. GVG Krishnamurthy, former chief election commissioner of India.

Synchron Research Services Pvt. Ltd. was presented an Excellence Award for outstanding performance in productivity, quality, innovation and management.


The Udyog Rattan Award and the Award for Excellence are conferred by the Institute of Economic Studies every year. The institute closely monitors various facets of the economy and the individual contributions made by various companies and business leaders; then a panel of eminent people from the institute and across the country form the jury in order to select the winners. The patrons of the institute include several leaders in economic studies, politics and business. Past recipients of these prestigious awards have included leading figures in Indian industry.

Synchron acquires Innovance

Synchron Research acquires Innovance, a start-up Ahmedabad based Contract Research Organization. The deal was facilitated by Deloitte.

Innovance has built an impressive world-class clinical research facility at Ahmedabad. This acquisition has provided Synchron an edge in offering excellent internationally accepted clinical research facility. The new clinical facility is spread over 18,000 sq.ft on a single floor, with three different volunteer housing areas. Also the facility has 14 beds state-of the-art Phase I facility. The other two volunteer housing areas has 32 beds each. This new 80 beds will be in addition to already existing 90 beds in the existing facility and 30 beds Bangkok facility, totaling to 200 beds across Asia. This makes Synchron one of the largest Asian CRO. Synchron BA/BE business has broad base loyal client franchise with repeat business with about 75% Europe/USA clients who will be further assured with this new facility offering international level clinical research facility.


This acquisition is first of its kind in CRO space in India. “Synchron is looking for more important acquisitions in India and other parts of Asia in future to increase our Asian foot-print to provide more research offerings to our clients” said Dr. Shivprakash, Chairman and Managing Director of Synchron.

Partner of Choice 2005 awards announced at Global PharmAlliance 2005

Synchron ties-up with Symogen for Pharmacovigilance services

Synchron Research Pvt Ltd, a leading contract research organization in the country has teamed-up with Symogen a UK-based pharmacovigilance company for effective implementation of Pharmacovigilance activities and set up an independent unit for commencing the services in India for the first time in the country. The company has also entered into a strategic partnership with the US-based Parexel International to monitor clinical trial sites in India, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The Rs 6-crore Ahmedabad-based Synchron commenced its operations in Bangalore two years ago. "The facility in Bangalore will conduct phase II to phase IV studies and investment of around Rs 1 crore has been made to install the software and hardware including MedDRA and WHO dictionary to speed-up its clinical research and data management studies" said Dr. Shivprakash, managing director, Synchron Research Services Pvt Ltd.

As a first step on its association with Symogen, Synchron had organized a one-day seminar on Pharmacovigilance in Bangalore for clinical investigators, pharma companies, regulatory affairs personnel, academicians and pharmacists to apprise on the recent developments.

Symogen team is here in India to train the staff at Synchron for causality assessment, coding and statistical analysis. Symogen will bring in their strengths of pharmacovigilance services to India through Synchron, stated Dr. Arun Biswas director, Symogen.
